OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE: On August 13, 2012, after midnight Spokane County Sheriff's Office Correction Deputies were making safety rounds and cell checks in the Spokane County Jail.
Corrections Deputies found a 30-year-old female inmate unresponsive inside her cell and immediately placed an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) on her chest and began CPR until medics arrived on scene.
The AED did apply one shock after the scene was safe while the deputies were performing CPR. Medics transported the female inmate to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The adult female was alone in her cell and did not have a roommate. Investigators do not feel the death is suspicious at this time.
An autopsy will be completed by the Medical Examiner's Office. Their office will identify the woman at a later time.
