TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - Derrick Peacock is a Democrat who worked on the first Obama campaign in college. Pablo Monroy is a Republican who supports Romney.
They try not to talk about politics because it's one of the few things that starts arguments between the two men who got married Saturday at Port Orchard.
Peacock is a 25-year-old who grew up in Kalama. Monroy was raised in Pasco. The men share a Tacoma condo with their miniature dachshund named Roxie. The couple plan to adopt a child.
Monroy is in the Army national Guard and wore his uniform at the wedding.
The News Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/N0880v ) the couple is embarking on a life that previous generations of gays never thought possible - serving openly in the military, marriage and raising children.
