EUGENE, OR - CJ Edwards was lights out on the mound, allowing only three baserunners in six innings as the Spokane Indians went on to beat Eugene 6-1. Edwards finished with seven strikeouts and just two walks.
In the 5th, Eugene's Kyle Ottoson retired the leadoff hitter on a groundout but then an error at third allowed Joe Maloney to reach base. The next four hitters all singled with Chris Garia picking up an RBI and Gabe Roa driving in a couple more. Then, Ryan Rua came up and belted a three-run shot. Rua's blast chased Ottoson from the game and gave Spokane a 6-0 lead.
Game two will be back at PK Park Tuesday night, first pitch is set for 7:05pm.
