FREEMAN, Wash. -

The Freeman Scotties are one of eight teams in Saturday's WIAA Kickoff Classic played at Eastern Washington's Roos Field.

They are very well aware of the fact the turf is bright red. And the kids, at least, are excited about playing on The Inferno.

"I've been there but… I'm so excited to play there," said Wyatt Smith, the team's senior quarterback.

"It's going to be different for us," said coach Jim Wood – with a smile. "I think all of the coaches are really excited about going out there to play on that red turf. We're a little bit leery about what's going to happen – the brightness of it."

Freeman plays Colville in the second game of the day on Saturday. It starts at 10 a.m. with Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia vs. Reardan at 10 a.m. After the Freeman-Colville game East Valley (Yak.) plays Cheney, and Central Valley plays Ferris at 7 p.m.

All four football games on Saturday will be televised live on SWX.
