More Land Purchased for New Seattle Arena

The man hoping to bring an NBA team back to Seattle has bought another parcel of land in the area where he plans to build a new arena.

KING-TV reports Chris Hansen's company closed Tuesday on the $8 million purchase of a half-acre property where the Showbox SODO music venue now sits.

Hansen plans a $490 million arena that would also be home to an NHL team. The plan calls for $200 million in public money. The King County Council has approved the idea. The Seattle City Council is still considering the proposal.
