SPOKANE, Wash. - It's a he-said she-said story that has life altering consequences.
Daniel Lindstrom deposited his $551 financial aid check at Bank of America in January of 2011. Lindstrom looked down at his balance statement after his deposit and thought that all of his prayers had been answered. An extra $5,000 was in his account.
Struggling with large amounts of debt and trying to put himself through the Spokane Falls Community College, Lindstrom thought that God was answering his recent prayers with the money. He thought that an anonymous friend or family member had heard about his situation and had wired him the extra $5,000.
Two hours after the deposit, Lindstrom took out the $5,000 to pay off his debts. However, the bank had just made a mistake when depositing Lindstrom's check. Lindstrom was charged with second degree theft on Tuesday, an outcome he told KHQ is just not right.
