Sex Offender Arrested After Facebook Sting

SEDRO-WOOLEY, Wash. (AP) - A 19-year-old registered sex offender has been arrested in Skagit County after the mother of the girl he was dating set up a Facebook sting.

The Skagit Valley Herald (http://is.gd/Aq2YeM ) reports William Elms is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday morning in Skagit County Superior Court on two counts of immoral communication with a minor.

Police were tipped off by a woman who caught her teenage daughter's boyfriend sending lewd photos and messages to someone he believed was a 15-year-old girl. But the mom had fabricated the Facebook profile because she wasn't happy that her 17-year-old daughter was dating Elms and wanted to get law enforcement involved.

Elms was arrested Aug. 18 after being released from the Snohomish County Jail in Everett, where he was serving time for a probation violation.

SPOKANE, Wash. - It’s a hot, sunny, July day but a pool sits empty in a North Spokane backyard. Neighbors said it’s not worth putting their children’s safety at risk after two teens threw rocks at the kids on Monday. “They didn’t even think twice they just did it,” said one witness. Michelle Garcia lives in the area on East Hoffman near North Town Mall.
