SPOKANE, Wash. - Former Spokane police officer Karl Thompson was in court Friday where a judge heard arguments for and against a new trial.
Thompson's defense attorney says he did not get a fair trial when he was convicted for using excessive force in the death of Otto Zehm in 2006.
He says that the judge did not turn over evidence that would clear Thompson, including reports from an expert witness.
Thompson's attorney says the surveillance video had limitations and could be open to interpretation.
However, the Zehm family attorney for the civil suit says the court may already have enough information.
The judge did not make a ruling on Friday, stating he wants more time to look over things.
