Mead Shows Its Might On Opening Night

SPOKANE, Wash. -

The Mead Panthers proved Friday night why they are the favorite to win the Greater Spokane League this season.

Visiting University in Spokane Valley, Mead struck first off a 22-yard touchdown run by quarterback Gunnar Kayser. He passed for just 50 yards, but had 46 rushing yards on his own. As a team, the Panthers ran for 323 yards on 44 carries.

University struggled to get the offense going, finishing with 108 yards passing and just 20 yards on the ground.

Mead came out the winner, 43-10.

Mead plays North Central next week. University will play at Gonzaga Prep.
