WASHINGTON (AP) - The party platform and the speakers scheduled tonight at the Democratic National Convention are intended to highlight the party's stark contrast with Republican policies.
The platform, which endorses abortion rights and higher taxes on wealthier Americans -- will be adopted today.
This evening's speakers include Lilly Ledbetter, namesake of gender fair pay legislation.
First lady Michelle Obama will make a prime-time address.
On Thursday, President Barack Obama will accept the party's presidential nomination for a second time.
