Political Party: Republican
Education: I went to college at the College of Idaho in Caldwell, Idaho and got my Law Degree from the University of Idaho
Spouse: I am engaged to a wonderful woman
Religion: Roman Catholic
Date of Birth: October 20, 1981

Luke Malek grew up in Kootenai County. He understands well and treasures the values in our community. His parents, Steve and Leanne, are physicians in Kootenai County, and he is one of four brothers. Together, they grew up riding horses, participating in 4-H, hunting, skiing, fishing and playing music. It is from this family-centered upbringing that Luke pulls his conservative values and his love of Idaho and the culture of independence that runs deep in the mountain west.

He has worked after college as a construction worker, framing homes in the Coeur d'Alene area, as an intern in the United States Senate in Washington, D.C., as the communications director for Dirne Community Health Center, as the Northern Idaho Regional Director of the first regional office for the Governor under then Governor, now Senator, Jim Risch, as the Executive Director of the Post Falls Urban Renewal Agency, and as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Kootenai County. He now works with a local private company that works to provide business advise to organizations looking to improve health care outcomes.

Luke is still an avid outdoorsman, and loves spending time with his family and friends. He loves his freedom, and understands that with that freedom, comes a large responsibility.

"I believe that this country was founded on the principles of ‘liberty and justice for all,' not ‘security and charity' for all, and those values aren't confused in Idaho like they tend to be in the rest of the country. Every decision I make as a leader will be grounded in my philosophy that the role of government is limited by the powers enumerated in the Constitution, and that a focus on individual rights, free enterprise and personal responsibility will be key to our economic recovery." Luke's campaign will focus on strengthening the economy in Idaho, creating more jobs, and improving education.

Please describe your top 5 priorities if elected State Representative, District 4, Position A:

1) Jobs. My top priority is to encourage policy that will increase employment opportunities.
2) Focus on prosperity. I will work to ensure that businesses based here in Idaho have the tools they need to grow provide a vibrant economy in Idaho.
3) Education: We need to rethink education in Idaho, and I will work to ensure that we innovate wherever possible.
4) Health Care: Idaho needs to take charge of its own future in health care, and I will work to make sure that this is a priority.
