Gonzaga Not Lacking in TV Coverage

SAN BRUNO, Calif.  – Gonzaga University's men's basketball team will appear on the ESPN Networks a minimum of 17 times throughout the 2012-13 season as the West Coast Conference and ESPN announced the WCC television schedule Wednesday.

As part of their long-term relationship, the WCC and ESPN will have a minimum of 43 men's basketball games involving WCC schools air nationally on the ESPN Networks this season.

"We are looking forward once again to having Bulldog basketball showcased throughout the nation on the ESPN Networks," Gonzaga athletic director Mike Roth said. "It gives our fans across the country a chance to follow the Zags and show their Bulldog pride."

WCC Commissioner Jamie Zaninovich also praised ESPN Networks for providing national exposure to the WCC.

"We are excited to showcase more West Coast Conference basketball than ever before on ESPN Networks," Zaninovich.  "On the heels of a season in which three of our teams played in the NCAA Tournament and five participated in the postseason, the WCC is well-positioned as a national conference.  Our strong relationship with ESPN ensures that fans around the country can experience the quality brand of basketball played in the West Coast Conference."

The first Gonzaga broadcast will be Nov. 12 from the McCarthey Athletic Center when West Virginia University visits for ESPN's College Hoops Tip-off Marathon at 9 p.m. Pacific Time, a game which is also part of the Old Spice Classic which the Bulldogs will compete in Nov. 22-25 at Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Gonzaga's game at the Old Spice Classic with Clemson University Nov. 22 will be televised at 6 p.m. PT. All games from the Old Spice Classic will be televised on the ESPN Networks.

Other non-conference games featuring Gonzaga are Dec. 5 at Washington State University at 8 p.m. PT on ESPNU, the University of Illinois at the McCarthey Athletic Center Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. on ESPN2, Kansas State University in The State Farm Battle in Seattle at KeyArena Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. PT on ESPN2, Baylor University at Gonzaga Dec. 28 at 5 p.m. PT on ESPN2, at Oklahoma State at 3 p.m. New Year's Eve on ESPN2 and at Butler Jan. 19 at 6 p.m. PT on ESPN as part of ESPN College Game Day.

The first WCC contest to feature the Zags will be Jan. 10 when Saint Mary's College invades the McCarthey Athletic Center at 8 p.m. on ESPN2. Two other WCC home games on the Gonzaga slate are Jan. 24 when BYU visits for an 8 p.m. PT game on ESPN2 and Feb. 20 when Santa Clara University comes to town for an 8 p.m. PT contest on ESPNU.

WCC road games featuring Gonzaga are at Loyola Marymount University Jan. 31 at 8 p.m. on ESPN2, Feb. 2 at San Diego at 8 p.m. on ESPNU, Feb. 14 at Saint Mary's College at 8 p.m. on ESPN2 and Feb. 28 at BYU 8 p.m. PT on ESPN2.

Gonzaga could also have at least one game in the WCC Tournament aired on the ESPN Networks as two of the tournament quarterfinal games March 8 (ESPNU), both semifinals March 9 (ESPN2) and the championship game March 11 (ESPN or ESPN2) will be aired.

The West Coast Conference will once again be a centerpiece to ESPN and ESPN2's Thursday night coverage, with Wednesday and Saturday ESPNU appearances.  In all, there will be a total of 20 conference games showcased on ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPNU.
