
September Healthy Woman Program Promotes Stress Management
Ladies, are you feeling stressed out? Learn how to be more stress free at the September Healthy Woman Event "Stress Management" at Valley Hospital, on Thursday, September 20th, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
The World Health Organization estimates that by the year 2020, psychological and stress-related disorders will be the second leading cause of disabilities in the world. Stress — real or perceived, acute or chronic — affects your health. The good news is, it's never too late to do something about stress. Heidi Peterson AT/L, ATC and Sue Metzger MA, NCC will provide information about stress management and practical methods that those attending can use to reduce and manage stress.
Heidi Peterson AT/L, ATC is a licensed health care provider and has been working in the area of medical fitness with Rockwood Clinic since 2008. She will discuss the role of breathing, exercise, and movement in reducing stress. Sue Metzger, MA, NCC offers stress management counseling, which tailors a strength-based approach to the unique circumstances of the individual. She utilizes state-of-the-art techniques including biofeedback, hypnosis, as well as a variety of self-care and relaxation techniques, such as visualization, deep breathing exercises and progressive muscle relaxation. Sue is a nationally certified counselor who specializes in stress management and the treatment of anxiety, depression and trauma, as well as providing performance, marital and couples counseling.
