SPOKANE, Wash. - A pursuit with a stolen vehicle that began in Cheney ended on I-90 in downtown Spokane Sunday afternoon.
Washington State Troopers say it started after an officer in Cheney attempted a stop on a vehicle that came back as stolen. The suspect did not stop for the officer and took off at a high rate of speed. After a short high-speed chase, the officer terminated the pursuit due to unsafe speeds in a residential area.
The Washington State Patrol was notified that the suspect could be in the area of I-90 eastbound and Troopers were able to locate the suspect a short time later.
The pursuit reached speeds of 90-100mph and finally ended when a Sheriff's Deputy performed a PIT maneuver just past the Maple Street on-ramp on eastbound I-90.
A male and female were taken into custody.
One lane of I-90 remains blocked, but should be cleared very shortly.
