Red Cross arrived on scene and are assisting the occupants that were displaced. The Spokane Police Department was also on scene and provided traffic control and scene security during the operational period of this incident.

Cause:
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Spokane Fire Departments Special Investigation Unit.

Damage:
The main floor kitchen and the attic sustained significant fire damage with smoke and water damage to the rest of the structure.

SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Firefighters responded to a structure fire near the intersection of Regal and Diamond in Hillyard Saturday morning.

The call came in around 11:00am when neighbors dialed 911 after seeing smoke coming from the back of the structure. Firefighters en route saw a large column of smoke and upgraded the call. Upon arrival crews saw heavy smoke and flames showing from all sides of the 1 1/2 story wood framed structure. Witnesses reported that all occupants were out of the house.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and investigators are on scene trying to determine a cause, though neighbors say the flames appeared to have originated in the laundry room. We are still waiting on an official cause and will update you as soon as we find out one.

No injuries were reported.
