Investigators Looking Into Abandoned House Fire In Spokane Valley

Posted: Updated:

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - Spokane Valley Firefighters were called out to a house fire near the intersection of Broadway and Park Sunday morning.

Crews arrived to find smoke coming from an abandoned home at the intersection. Firefighters made entry and were able to extinguish a fire that had spread from the back side of the home and into the attic.

The vacant home is boarded up and fire investigators are looking into a cause, however officials on scene say all signs at this point indicate that the fire was started by a transient and got out of control.

Fire officials say they have seen a couple of abandoned house fires this year and want to remind you that if you see anything suspicious or someone in an abandoned house that isn't suppose to be there, to immediately report it. Damage to the home wasn't severe, but firefighters say it could've been much worse if they weren't alerted to the blaze so quickly.
