Idaho Child Left Alone On School Bus, Found In Parking Lot
LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) - A 5-year-old from north-central Idaho spent a half-hour alone in a parking lot after she was left on a school bus.
Mom Miranda Main says her daughter, a Lewiston kindergartner, normally takes a bus to another school and then switches buses for the remainder of her ride home. But Main told the Lewiston Tribune (http://bit.ly/OpN9EM ) that last Wednesday, neither the bus nor her daughter showed up.
Main started calling school district officials. That's when workers found her daughter alone on the first bus, which was parked at the district lot. Main says the driver didn't have her switch buses and didn't check to make sure all the kids were gone.
Assistant Superintendent Bob Donaldson says similar situations have happened in the past. He says such mistakes are rare.
