PULLMAN, Wash. -

At Washington State this week, it's all about leadership. Who will step up and point the way? Could it be Connor Halliday?

The sophomore quarterback will be taking all the first team snaps this week at practice in Pullman. That said, however, Mike Leach isn't ready to name him the starter over an injured Jeff Tuel – officially.

Leach has said it more than once: he needs players to step up and show some leadership – especially when things get difficult.

"There's guys that it's very painful to lose or fall short, that take a lot of pride in their play, and then there's those that have this whole ‘that's how the cookie crumbles' mentality. Well, that's crazy!" said Leach.

"I think this team is desperate for leaders and I think I've stepped up in that category the last couple of weeks," said Halliday. "I think that will just continue to grow. But yeah, this offense is just dying for someone to led them."
