SPOKANE, Wash. -

Dave Hughes is in just his third season as head coach of the Lewis & Clark Tigers. But he is no stranger to the Greater Spokane League.

Hughes, a native of South Dakota, played college football at Black Hills State. He followed his wife when she got a job in the Spokane area. He started coaching at Rogers, and even coached current Pirates coach Matt Miethe.

Currently, Hughes says the Tigers have a good quarterback who is running the ball well. And the defense is strong and playing well.

Hughes encourages his players to not only play football but stay involved in other activities as well, from student government to band.

Isaiah Thomas brings his talents to the Southridge Sports Complex this weekend. The former Washington Husky, and current Sacramento King, is partnering with the city of Kennewick to put on an Elite Youth basketball camp for boys and girls ages 6 to 16. The camp runs from 9 am to 3 pm and space is still available. Thomas says he just wants to be a positive role model for kids. >>
