When It Becomes Too Much, The Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery Is There

SPOKANE, Wash. - Staff at the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery say the majority of parents that come through the doors have good intentions, but are perhaps struggling financially or might just be emotionally overwhelmed.

One local mom Melissa Golden tells KHQ that everyday is a challenge with a full time medical infant Abilgal as well as her on-the-go 3-year-old Isaac who was recently diagnosed with ADHD.

Golden says a friend told her about the Crisis Nursery. For Melissa, one afternoon it all just got too much, she needed help, a place that was safe, supportive, and understanding.

Children ages birth through six can stay at the nursery for up to 72 hours.

Melissa is also taking parent education classes offered through the nursery and knows that for the safety of her children she can always get help, just like the 67,000 other kids that the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery has helped over the past 25 years.
