The headliner of Friday night for the Greater Spokane League was the Greasy Pig featuring valley rivals University and Central Valley.

The first half was a defensive battle as Maxwell Sykes 2 yard touchdown run was the only score of the half, making it 6-0 with the failed PAT.

In the second half, CV's offense came alive as the Bears scored on their opening three possessions with the help of the defense's back-to-back picks to set them up for two of those touchdowns.

U-high would finally answer back with a deep bomb to make it 26-7, and score another late in the 3rd quarter to get back within two possessions.

Central Valley (5-1) pulled away from there to beat the Titans (2-4) by a score of 47-14 to get bragging rights for the next year.

 Mead at Shadle Park

Mead was looking to rebound from their first loss of the season last week to Gonzaga Prep as Shadle Park tried to win their second consecutive game.

Mead rebounded quick as they ran for 246 yards in the first half, tallying up 51 points in the process. That would be plenty as the Panthers (5-1) went on to win the game 57-13.

On a side note, Shadle's (2-4) sophomore quarterback, Brett Rypien moved into 10th place on the GSL's single season passing list with 3 games still remaining on the schedule for the Highlanders.

 North Central at Gonzaga Prep

North Central faced the undefeated Bullpups on Friday night. After falling behind 14-0, NC answered with a touchdown to make it 14-6 early in the 2nd quarter.

Runningback Griffin Hare was a beast in this one. He ran for 233 yards on 24 carries with 2 touchdowns. Wait a second, that was in the first half alone.

Hare ended up with 315 yards and 3 touchdowns as Gonzaga Prep won the game 45-12.

 Ferris at Mt. Spokane

In the nightcap at Joe Albi, Ferris was hoping to remain tied for 2nd in the GSL as Mt. Spokane was fighting to better their 3A playoff position.

As the defenses dominated early, Ferris was just way too much for the Wildcats.

Cole Karstetter scored 2 touchdowns and Gunnar Seefeld added one of his own as the Saxons (5-1) took the victory 28-7.
