Spokane Valley Home Destroyed After Explosion

Posted: Updated:
SPOKANE, Wash. - An explosion shattered a Spokane Valley home Sunday night, destroying the home and leaving a family displaced.

Fire crews from Spokane Valley were called to the intersection of Wellesley and Moore around 9PM. Fire crews say before they arrived they could see flames shooting from the house. Upon arrival firefighters found the back of the house completely engulfed in flames as well as a camper and brush behind the home on fire.

One person was inside the home when the fire broke out but was able to escape unharmed. He is staying with friends temporarily.

Witnesses tell KHQ that they heard an explosion around the same time the house went up in flames, they also say this same house was partially burned in a large fire last year, and that the owners had just finished rebuilding a few months ago.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and crews were out Monday morning assessing the damage.
