How Employers May Be Able to Dodge The Cost Of Obamacare In 2014

Posted: Updated:

KHQ.COM: President Obama's Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, is scheduled to go into effect in 2014. Under the law, companies are required to provide coverage to their employees or face government penalties. However, employers only have to provide coverage to employees who work at least 30 hours per week.

Darden Restaurants Inc., owner of the Olive Garden and Red Lobster, have already started an experiment and are cutting back more employees to part-time status hoping this will limit their costs when the health law takes effect.

For restaurant and service-industry workers, this could mean a huge cut to their paycheck and may force them to find a second job.

Do you support Obamacare?

Are you worried that your employer will follow suit and start cutting back employees to part-time status in order to cut the costs of mandatory health care?
