ALERT: Kellogg's Mini-Wheats Recalled Due To Metal Pieces

Posted: Updated:

KHQ.COM -  If you were thinking about having a bowl of Kellogg's Mini-Wheats, think again.  Kellogg's has issued a recall of Mini-Wheats cereal due to the "unlikely but possible presence of fragments of flexible metal mesh from a faulty manufacturing part."

There have been no reported injuries but Kellogg's has voluntarily recalled the mini-wheats as a precautionary measure.  In a company statement, Kellogg said, "At Kellogg, our number one priority is the quality and safety of our foods and we take this situation very seriously."

The recall covers 2.8 million boxes of Frosted Mini-Wheats Bite Size Original and Mini-Wheats Unfrosted Bite Size cereal with the letters KB, AP or FK before or after the best-before date. Use by dates range from April 1, 2013 to Sept. 21, 2013. Most of the recalled products are cereal boxes, but some are single-serving bowls.

Kellogg's issued the recall on Monday but the word did not get out to most consumers until Thursday.  Many are angry and have posted their comments online and one man even posted a YouTube video showing a fair amount of the crushed up cereal being picked up by a magnet.
