Coeur d'Alene Tire Shop Thefts Solved

Posted: Updated:

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - In North Idaho on Tuesday, the owners of a Coeur d'Alene tire shop, Doug Creamer and his son, took matters into their own hands and caught who they believed was stealing thousands of dollars worth of inventory from their business.

The thefts happened at the Best Tires, located in the 3000 block of Government Way.

Doug Creamer and his son who owns Best Tires say his shop has been ripped off at least 8-times in the past few months.  Everything from tires, aluminum and steel, all of which added up to about 5-thousand dollars worth of stolen goods.

Doug and his son was suspicious that all of their materials were being stored at a locked up building next door to their business, but were not able to prove it.

They waited inside the building after closing until the suspected thief pulled up with a truck and witnessed their stolen items inside the near by shop.

Police arrested and booked 40-year old Mathew J. Afana into the Kootenai County jail for possession of stolen property.
