Two of Spokane's own are reportedly up for the vacant managerial position with the Miami Marlins.

CBS Sports reported Miami will speak with big league catcher Mike Redmond. Redmond was born in Washington state, played high school baseball at Gonzaga Prep and went on to play collegiately at Gonzaga. He is currently the manager of Toronto's Class A affiliate.

The Blue Jays have reportedly given Miami permission to talk to Redmond.

If Redmond doesn't get the job, perhaps Spokane native Ryne Sandberg will. The Sun-Sentinel reported he, too, is on the Marlins' radar. A graduate of Spokane's North Central High School, Sandberg was recently named the third base coach with the Philadelphia Phillies.

Sandberg is considered by some to be the heir apparent to Charlie Manuel who will be 69 on the opening day, and who is entering the final year of his contract.
