Major playoff implications abounded across the Great Northern League heading into Thursday's end to the regular season. Cheney, Deer Park, and West Valley were all vying for the GNL's second and final seed to the 2A playoffs in what could've resulted in a three-way Kansas tiebreaker on Saturday. Instead, four teams ended the season in a tie for first place, but only two reaching the postseason.
First place Pullman was stunned by last place Colville in a 26-20 loss on the road, but still won the #1 seed. Cheney, which beat Clarkston, 28-19, took the GNL's #2 seed. Despite a 35-24 win over Deer Park, East Valley was left out of the postseason, as was rival West Valley.
