Kootenai County Commissioners Meet On Idaho Paving Company

Posted: Updated:

RATHDRUM, Idaho - Kootenai County Commissioners held a meeting to determine if a Rathdrum asphalt plant can re-locate it's facility to Post Falls.

After months of debate and meetings, Commissioners approved the permit for Coeur d'Alene Paving with certain conditions. Those conditions address hours of operation.

Although the company already operates in Rathdrum, Coeur D'Alene Paving can now build and operate an asphalt batching plant near State Line.

The previous County Commission asked the company to move its plant from Rathdrum due to local residents concerns on environmental pollution.

When the company proposed the new site at State Line, it met some of the same opposition from its homeowners there.  The company says it is heavily regulated by the Department Of Environmental Quality.

Legally, County Commissioners cannot comment on the issue until a decision is reached.
