UPDATE: Deadly Crash On Hwy. 54 In Spirit Lake

UPDATE: 40-year-old Neta J. Clift of Coeur d' Alene was killed in the crash. Her body was taken to Yates funeral home. Nancy J. Daniel, the other driver, was taken to Kootenai Medical Center where she was treated and released. Authorities say Clift was northbound on Hwy 41 when she lost control on the snow covered highway. Clift then spun into the southbound lane where she was struck by Daniel. Clift died at the scene. The investigation is on going.

UPDATE: The scene has been cleared. At this hour we're awaiting the details of the crash.

BREAKING TWEET from Dylan Wohlenhaus: There's been a fatal crash on Hwy 41 and Hwy. 54 in Spirit Lake. Hwy. 41 is closed at crash while traffic is being re-directed. The identity of the person killed has not been released. As soon as we learn more details we'll post them here on KHQ.com, Facebook and our Twitter news feed.
