Zag Fans in Tents: Now THAT's Crazy Dedication!

Updated:

I know it happens every year, but this is crazy. A stiff burst of winter hits the Spokane area on Sunday, and what do basketball fans at Gonzaga do? They go camping!

KHQ's Kelsey Watts snapped a picture of the tent city outside the McCarthy Athletic Center on Monday morning. She counted a total of 114 tents full of students waiting to get the best seats for Monday's game against West Virginia.

I can understand the excitement. I really can. West Virginia is a respectable program led by none other than Bob Huggins, one of the most well-known and talented coaches in the business. And yes, I remember the Zags beat the Mountaineers last spring in the NCAA Tournament - a game Gonzaga was not supposed to win.

But camping out in a snowstorm when there are perfectly warm beds available? Just plain crazy. I'll watch the game from the comfort of my leather sofa with a nice drink in my hand while the kids are asleep in their warm beds.
