SPOKANE, Wash. -

All three of the Greater Spokane League teams who went to the first round of the state tournament are still in the playoffs, including 4A Gonzaga Prep.

Prep, this year's GSL champion, made a statement last Saturday, crushing Union 45-17. As they did all season long, the Bullpups pounded out the victory in large part because of their bruising

running game.

While the quarterback and running backs have put up big numbers on the stat sheets, they say they could not do it without a full team effort.

"Our guys up front – it starts with them, they do such an amazing job," said senior quarterback Zach Bonneau.

"Those guys up front – those give guys – block, and then you have the two wings in the mix and Tom and Max, they do a heckuva job," said coach Dave McKenna. "And obviously, everyone hears about the skill guys in the back… it's really 11 guys."

Gonzaga Prep's next test comes Saturday when they host Bellarmine Prep. The game at 2 p.m. can be seen live on SWX-TV and on mobile devices throughout Eastern Washington and North Idaho on the Syncbak app.

The other two GSL teams in action are Mead at Auburn, while University hosts North Thurston.
