Kennewick, WA- Even if the first two periods are bad, there is always a third period.

The Tri-City Americans (14-7-1-1, 30 pts) scored three goals in the third period and a stellar performance by Eric Comrie allowed Tri-City to come from behind to edge the Kelowna Rockets (12-7-1-1, 26 pts) 3-2 in front of 3,769 at the Toyota Center.

Comrie was lights out in goal, stopping a season high 41 shots to earn the first star award.

This is the third straight win at home against the Rockets continuing the streak from last season. It is the second time this season the Americans have won when trailing after two periods, with the other win coming at Prince Albert when the Americans came from behind and won in a shootout 2-1.

The Rockets dominated the first period, out shooting the Americans 16-9. The Americans had the lone power play in the period but couldn't convert. Both teams had some good chances, with Connor Rankin and Kelowna's Madison Bowey having chances at the doorstep, but neither team could score a goal as the period ended with no goals after one.

But the Americans could not hold off the Rockets in the second period. The Rockets continued controlling the puck and dominated the second period, outshooting the Americans 14-5. Kelowna got on the board on a Myles Bell slap shot to give them a 1-0 lead. Kelowna would add to the lead midway through the second as Ryan Olsen put home a rebound to increase the lead to two. Americans never had a great chance to score as they entered the third period down by two.

The Americans would come alive in the third period as they killed off a power play to start the period, and then swung the momentum in their direction as Parker Bowles scored on a breakaway to cut the lead to one. And the Ams would tie the game on the power play 5:49 into the third as Rankin would put home a rebound. Tri-City would take their first lead of the game as Beau McCue fed Justin Feser in front of the net for a goal with just over five minutes left in the game.

Kelowna pressed in the final minutes of the third, but couldn't get it by the brick wall that was Comrie on this night, as the Americans held on for the 3-2 victory.

With the goal, Feser pulls within one goal of tying Dylan Gyori for seventh on the Americans all-time goals list. Bowles ends a 12 game streak without a point with his goal.
