UN Chief: Israel Ground War Would Lead To Tragedy

UNITED NATIONS (AP) - A U.N. spokesman says United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon "strongly cautions against Israel launching a ground operation, which would clearly result in further tragedy."
    
U.N. spokesman Martin Nesirky relayed the comment to reporters in New York by teleconference Tuesday as Ban emerged from a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
    
Ban is in the region to try to calm tensions around the Israeli offensive in Gaza against Hamas.
