Intruder Is No Match For Two Home Owners In St. John, WA

Posted: Updated:

KHQ.COM - A homeowner in St. John, WA called 911 around 6am Wednesday morning after she and her husband discovered an intruder trying to burglarize their home. She did not know if the intruder was armed but told dispatchers that her husband had "secured" the man and was waiting for officers to arrive.

Officers arrived to the intruder zip-tied on the garage floor of the victim's home. The suspect, 47-year-old Michael E. McCarthy, was arrested and later admitted that he did break into the home with the intent to steal valuables inside the home but he did not think his actions were deserving of being attacked by the home owner.

McCarthy was booked into the Whitman County Jail on charges of residential burglary, malicious mischief, vehicle prowl, assault and theft.
