Thanksgiving Divided At Department Stores, Couple Braves Cold For A TV

Posted: Updated:

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - Thanksgiving nears its end, and Black Friday will soon take hold at stores across the country. Some places in the Inland Northwest have had people lined up since earlier this week, but a few of the department stores will open with deals later Thursday night.

"I've pretty much got the store memorized and I just hit what I want before anyone else gets there," Ben Moore said as he sat outside Best Buy.

Everyone has a certain strategy when they hit the stores for the discounts, but Levi Spang said this is the first time he had been out in advance for the black Friday deals.

"I've been out here since midnight last night," Spang said.

This is the first time he's been away from his wife on Thanksgiving.

"Nothing says Thanksgiving like being divided and sitting at two different stores for a TV," Spang said. "That's family."

Spang's wife is at Sears right now, waiting for the same exact item.

"The 50 inch Toshiba L.E.D. TV," Kathy Spang said. "Best Buy has it for $399, but Sears has it for $299."

Every Thanksgiving story seems to have a happy end, and this one is no exception. The Spangs did get to spend some time together this holiday, but it only came when his wife needed a blanket. His friends saved his spot.
