SPOKANE, Wash. - Shoppers started flooding the stores late Thursday evening, and the shopping surge hasn't stopped yet.
National estimates say that shoppers will spend more than $580 billion this holiday season. Wal-Mart recorded more than $22 million in its stores Thursday alone.
Many stores opened their doors as early as at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving night, much to the disgust of several families across the country. Despite the frustrations, the lines looped around many buildings and some left without their desired items because of the long wait.
Downtown Spokane business owners told us Friday they were very pleased with the turnout of people who stopped by on the busiest shopping day of the year.
