KHQ.COM - Stevens County Firefighters responded to a mobile home fire near Deer Park on Weaver Rd Monday. The home was fully engulfed when crews arrived, and began to spread to another mobile home nearby.

It started just after 3:00pm Monday when emergency dispatchers received a call of a house fire in the 5600 block of East Weaver.

Fire officials say two adults were inside the home but were able to make it out safely.

The home was actually two old single wide trailers put together which made it difficult for firefighters to access the interior of the home.

Another dangerous issue for crews were oxygen tanks inside that were used by one of the adults. However, they were safely removed.

Stevens county and Spokane County Fire District #4 also responded to provide mutual aid.

Red Cross has been notified and is responding.

It appears two dogs and a cat were not able to make it out of the home which is being called a total loss.

Crews will be on scene for the next several hours. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
