SPOKANE, Wash. -

If there is one thing the Zags have proven so far this season, it is this: depth matters. As it happens, they have plenty of it.

From Kelly Olynyk to Przemek Karnowski and Sam Dower in the middle, to any of the guards on the outside, Gonzaga's bench has turned into a considerable asset. On any given night, anyone from Elias Harris to Guy Landri Edi, Kevin Pangos or Gary Bell Jr can have a breakout night. And that is a nightmare for opposing defenses.

"We're very deep and very balanced, and it's an exciting thing to have that much talent and that much balance on a team – and a lot of unselfishness too," said senior Michael Hart.

Even Hart, who started in the program as a walk-on, proven he can be a threat at any moment on either side of the ball.

"Our second five is just as good as our starting five," said Harris. "It doesn't really matter who plays or who starts a game. I think that's really the key for us. Everybody should have outstanding confidence and just give it their best."

The Zags take that depth to the court Thursday night against Lewis-Clark State College from Lewiston. The Warriors, an NAIA school, undefeated so far this season with a record of 9-0. The game can be seen on SWX and KHQ in the Spokane area, and on ROOT outside the local area.
