Symphony Musicians And More Affected By The Strike - Spokane, North Idaho News & Weather KHQ.com

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Symphony is still on strike Friday night and one of the biggest performances of the year, the Nutcracker is just a week away.

The musicians stepped out of the Martin Woldson Theater and onto the picket lines back on November 3rd and after 28 days, five concerts have been canceled. 

The board wants to slash salaries more than 13% and they're still working on trying to draft a new contract.  But the conflict has affected not just musicians but also local businesses.

Restaurants Scratch, Rain, Catacombs, and Scout has also seen a decline of patrons due to canceled events.  Without the Symphony, more downtown restaurants may see thinner crowds. 

Local business could see a continued thinner bottom line until management of the Symphony and the core musicians come to an agreement on pay.
