Home Court Advantage Could Give Cougars a Boost Against Gonzaga

Updated:

Fresh of a convincing victory against Portland, Washington State shifts its focus to the big, bad Gonzaga Bulldogs. A rivalry game.

The Cougars come into Wednesday's contest with a measure of confidence after having outscored the Pilots 32-12 in the paint on Saturday. They hope a home court advantage can give them the extra edge to knock of one of the hottest teams in the country.

"It will be similar to the Washington game – an in-state rivalry, two teams that are very talented and good, and I think a lot of the people here who are Coug fans and students know a lot of the guys on the other team, so therefore I think it'll be a great crowd," said coach Ken Bone.

Washington State hopes to repeat what they did against Gonzaga two years ago when they handed the Zags a humiliating defeat.

This week will be the 146th meeting between the Zags and Cougs. The game tips off Wednesday at 5 p.m. (PT) on ESPNU.
