Student Causes Lock Down At Freeman High School

PRESS RELEASE FROM FREEMAN HIGH SCHOOL: At approximately 9:30 am on Wednesday a Freeman student became extremely agitated. A FMS staff member contacted Principal Jim Straw to come to the classroom. The student purposefully broke a window in the middle school, crawled through the window, took a glass shard, and threatened a classroom of students and staff. The students were removed immediately from the area.

911 was called right away and the entire school district went into lock down. Mr. Straw and staff members maintained sight of the student at all times.A call was placed to the Emergency Medical System because the student needed medical attention.

The student, in addition to threatening students and staff members, also threatened to harm himself. Damage was sustained to both school and personal property.At approximately 10:00 am, we came out of lock down status and normal school operations resumed.

We would like to commend the staff, parents, students, and local authorities for their quick and calm response to the lock down.

Michelle says they had driven down a dead end road and were on their way back out when, somehow, a limb from a spruce tree came through the passenger window and impaled her neck.
