Washington State beats Fresno State 59-50

PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) - Brock Motum scored 23 points and Mike Ladd had a season-high 19 points as Washington State beat Fresno State 59-50 on Sunday.

 

The Cougars (6-4) led 48-47 with 4:43 to play. Motum made two layups and Ladd scored on another and Washington State was up 54-48. Royce Woolridge, who scored 11 points, made five of his six free-throw attempts to wrap up the win. The final score matched Washington State's largest lead.

 

Jerry Brown scored 12 points while Robert Upshaw and Allen Huddleston each scored 10 for Fresno State (5-4). Upshaw also had seven rebounds and six blocked shots.

 

The Bulldogs trailed most of the first half, but ended it on an 11-5 run to lead 25-24 at the half.

 

Fresno State shot only 26 percent in the second half and 30 percent for the game. Washington State shot 47.8 percent in the second half and 40 percent overall.
