Spokane Mourns The Tragedy In Newtown

Posted: Updated:

SPOKANE, Wash. - Dozens of people gathered at the Rotary Fountain in Riverfront Park Friday night to mourn the victims of Sandy Hook Elementary School.

The candlelight vigil started at 8:00pm.

In the darkness of the evening were 27 candles surrounded by a mourning community, seven large candles and 20 small ones, representing each victim of Friday's elementary school shooting.

Next to those candles was a basket with a sign and six simple words: Our hearts go out to Newtown.

In the basket were notes written on paper hearts to the victims and families in Connecticut to remind them that they are in our hearts and prayers.

Those notes will be sent to Newtown in the coming days.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Wind, humidity and rainfall combined precisely to create the massive killer tornado in Moore, Okla.
