Stolen Vehicle Leads to Multiple Arrests

Posted: Updated:

SPOKANE, Wash - Just before 2am Monday morning, a citizen saw someone breaking into his car near 6100 N.  Whitehouse (off Division and Francis in north Spokane) and immediately called police, providing an excellent description of the suspect vehicle.  As officers arrived in the area moments later, the suspects driving a stolen Jeep Cherokee, fled with their lights off.  Ofc. Jeremy Daniel located the stolen car parked outside 8328 N. Parkway Dr., a North Spokane home familiar to officers.

Officers found Daniel Maddock hiding in a crawl space inside a bedroom.  Maddock had hidden his shoes after tracking through the snow from the car to the house.  He was arrested for Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle as well as an outstanding 2nd Degree Assault warrant.  (Maddock was the shooter in a recent confrontation near 10th and Cuba on Nov. 17.  Maddock had been prowling a car when the owner confronted him and Tucker, Maddock shot at the owner before fleeing the scene).

Amanda Tucker was also inside the residence and was arrested for Possession of a Stolen Motor vehicle, as well as outstanding warrants for Taking Motor Vehicle without Permission 2nd degree and City Assault.

Kenneth Thiefault was "sleeping" in another room inside the home.  Officers located a .40 Caliber Glock hidden under a couch cushion where he was sleeping.  In addition to the Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, he was also arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.  The handgun had been stolen during a vehicle prowling on Oct. 30 in the Spokane Valley, therefore Thiefault was also charged with Possession of a Stolen Firearm.

Although Spokane Police Officers make it a priority to patrol in order to prevent car prowling and vehicle theft, we remind citizens to help our efforts by remembering to.  "Remove it or Lose it" is an anti-vehicle prowling campaign encouraging citizens to lock up their valuables and call police if you see something suspicious.  In this case, the victim quickly alerted officers of the prowling instead of confronting the suspects and SPD officers were able to quickly find and arrest three prolific local criminals.
