$250K Bail For Washington Teen In Facebook Gun Threat Case

Posted: Updated:

MOUNT VERNON, Wash. (AP) - A northwest Washington teen is being held on $250,000 bail while authorities investigate his reported Facebook threat to "shoot up every school within a 100-mile radius" if his gun rights were taken away in the wake of the Connecticut school shooting.

The Skagit Valley Herald reports (http://is.gd/VpihJ ) that county District Court Commissioner Linford Smith set bail for the 19-year-old on Monday. The young Sedro-Woolley man has not yet been charged with a crime.

He was arrested for investigation of harassment threats to kill. In a Friday evening Facebook post, he reportedly referred to the young Connecticut man blamed for killing 20 children and six adults at a school, his mother and himself as "a hero in my eyes."

The newspaper says authorities and local schools are taking the threats seriously. Some schools reported extra security Monday.

Sedro-Woolley is about 60 miles north of Seattle.
