Ringin' For A Reason

Posted: Updated:

SPOKANE, Wash. - There are only a few days left for The Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign.  Donations are low this year and because of that, Captain Kyle Smith is set to attempt another world record for bell ringing, and this year he's got some competition to do it.  Miss Spokane, Kenzi Novell, is set to compete against Captain Kyle Smith for the world record attempt.   Both, Smith and Novell, are at the Wal Mart Northepointe (9212 North Colton Street, Spokane) at competing doors.

Also, competing against Captain Kyle and Miss Spokane, will be Marcus Riccelli, incoming State Representative from the 3rd Legislative District.  Riccelli is at the Shadle Wal-Mart (2301 W Wellesley Ave., Spokane).  And Avista CEO, Scott Morris, will be helping Captain Smith, with some of his own bell ringing.

The Last Man Standing – World Record Attempt began at 5am on Thursday, December 20th

If anyone makes the full 60 hours it would end at 5pm on Saturday, December 22nd.

The community is encouraged to come out and support Captain Smith, Miss Spokane, Marcus Riccelli and others during this long and often tedious attempt.  In years past, the most difficult times for Captain Smith have been from 3am-9am.

"Conditions are expected to be cold, so please come out and keep us company, and don't forget to bring out those big bills to keep that kettle full!"  ~ Captain Kyle Smith, Salvation Army

The Salvation Army Red Kettles will be at 60 area locations through December 24th - Christmas Eve.  This is the Salvation Army's largest fundraiser.  This year's goal is $400,000 but they are down by more than $150,000.  The donations go to support all of the Salvation Army programs throughout the year.
