Mead senior Danny Mattingly shook the college football boat over the weekend by changing his mind. The coveted recruit switched his commitment from Notre Dame to Oregon.
Mattingly, 6-foot-5, 225 pounds, made an official visit to South Bend earlier this year and announced he would play for Notre Dame in June. But something changed. NBC Sports said Mattingly was interested in playing offense, which may be the reason he chose the Ducks instead.
Mead coach Sean Carty reportedly told Irish Illustrated, "He's just trying to make the best decision he can. I don't press him very much on it."
Mattingly was also being pursued by Alabama, Nebraska,
Oklahoma, UCLA, Washington and Washington State.
