DUNSMUIR, Calif. (AP) - A 66-year-old Washington man is in custody on suspicion of stabbing two people aboard a Greyhound bus in far Northern California.

Siskiyou County Sheriff's officials say Charles Burnett Ripley - a passenger on the bus - had been talking to himself when he lunged across the aisle without warning early Tuesday morning and began stabbing a 23-year-old woman.

The bus was traveling south on Interstate 5 and had just passed Dunsmuir.

Some men on the bus held Ripley until the California Highway Patrol arrived. Sheriff's officials say he stabbed a 22-year-old man while he was being held.

The victims' conditions were not immediately known.

The Record Searchlight of Redding reports (http://bit.ly/Utk6RC) that Ripley of Kennewick, Wash. is being held without bail on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
