Richard Sherman Wins Appeal

Updated:

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman send through Twitter on Thursday that he won his appeal of the suspension he received for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

"Thank you @nfl for upholding the truth! To the 12s Thank you your faith is rewarded! Thank you lord," Sherman wrote on Twitter.

Sherman had been given a four game suspension after a test revealed he allegedly had taken a performance enhancing substance. In the appeal he claimed there was a "chain of custody" mistake in the testing process. He said a leaking cup led to a contamination of his urine sample. The NFL reported there was, indeed, a major problem with the collection procedure which voided Sherman's test results.

The appeal was heard last Friday. He played in Sunday's win over San Francisco while waiting for the appeal to be resolved. He had an interception and returned a blocked punt 90 yards for a touchdown.

Teammate Brandon Browner was also suspended four games for violating the league's policy. He served his four game suspension and is ready to return for the playoffs.
