How To Properly Recycle Your New Christmas Presents Box

Posted: Updated:

KHQ.COM - Police are saying that if you don't dispose of your new Flat Screen TV or Ski's boxes that you just got for Christmas they may be in danger of being stolen if you don't dispose of their packaging properly. All over Spokane on Friday garbage can after garbage can was full of boxes from Amazon, TV boxes, even expensive brand clothing boxes were left out in full view of the public. Police warn that burglars see your trash as what's inside your home and if it's worth breaking into.

Police are advising that you cut up the boxes so that they fit inside a garbage can unseen or even just carry them to a public dumpster yourself. Tori Bailey a concerned neighbor said "Well I know you are not supposed to leave boxes out in the open it's like ‘hello, we got a big flat screen!".

Police say to be safe and make sure you write down the serial number to all of your new electronics in case they are stolen. Finally, watch out for your neighbors. Statistics show that most home burglaries happen in broad daylight.
